Tourism business research in northern Devon 2021
During the first quarter of 2021, North Devon + conducted two pieces of research and partnered another, exploring the impact of the pandemic and priorities for the recovery and development of tourism across northern Devon (the combined North Devon and Torridge areas). All research was undertaken in partnership with North Devon Marketing Bureau, North Devon Council and Torridge District Council.
1. Great South West Tourism Partnership COVID-19 Business Impact Survey (Jan 2021) – completed by tourism businesses across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, with data extracted for businesses responding from northern Devon in comparison to the wider Great South West area.
2. Telephone survey of tourism-related businesses in northern Devon (Jan – Feb 2021) – business views on the development of tourism as a whole in northern Devon including priorities for the future.
3. Interviews with tourism stakeholders in northern Devon (Jan – Feb 2021) – semi-structured interviews to capture the views of agencies and organisations with an interest in the development of tourism, including suggested opportunities and priorities.
Summary results from these pieces of research can be viewed here - Presentation of findings from Tourism Recovery Survey.
The results are being used to inform discussions between North Devon Council, Torridge District Council and the private sector to support the recovery of tourism. Further announcements will be made in due course.
